Physician Foundation Medical Associates (SPMF), in the heart of San Francisco, is seeking a fellowship trained, BC/BE Palliative Medicine physician to join our inpatient team. Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, palliative care chaplains, volunteers, and staff social workers.
California Pacific Medical Center is a tertiary care hospital, providing advanced medical care for a 24 Sutter Health hospital system, including neuro, cardiac and critical care ICUs, transplant, oncology, advanced heart failure and hepatology and interventional endoscopy services. The hospital is associated with ACGME accredited Residencies and Fellowships. The Palliative Medicine department has been providing care for patients for over ten years, and as such, the team is fully integrated into this academic and community environment and enjoys a respected, collegial relationship with our diverse academic faculty, private community physicians, hospitalists and administrators.
The services provided by our Inpatient Palliative Medicine Team include comprehensive symptom management, extensive education regarding disease processes and treatment options, discussions related to patients’ values and goals of care, emotional and spiritual support, advanced care planning and assistance with complex care coordination. Additionally, we provide direct resident education during core palliative medicine rotations, and regularly participate in staff education and protocol development. Opportunities are available to participate in research both locally and in our large hospital system, as well as program development as we seek to build an outpatient presence in the next two years.
Our ideal candidate is someone interested in working closely but independently with a group of happy, supportive clinicians. We seek a team-player with a strong work ethic and high levels of empathy and compassion. As medical education is an important part of our services, excellent communication skills and strong clinical judgment are a must; Internal Medicine board certification is strongly preferred.
Applicants will be considered regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, marital status, disability, protected veteran status, religious or political affiliation, age, sexual orientation, medical condition or pregnancy. Applicants with criminal histories will be considered for employment in a manner consistent with federal, state and local laws.
If you are interested in learning more and/or applying, please send your curriculum vitae and a cover letter to: Catherine Seeley, MD c/o: ZhengJ1@sutterhealth.org.
Applicants must have completed Internal Medicine residency, and have a California license.
