Summary:

Reporting to the VP/Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Associate Medical Director is an integral member of the Hospice program.  In conjunction with the CMO, the Associate Medical Director is responsible for the direction of the medical component of Care Dimensions’ patient care program.  The Associate Medical Director also assumes an active role in the marketing, outreach, and educational activities of Care Dimensions and serves as a liaison between Care Dimensions and community physicians, hospitals, and long-term care providers to develop and expand the number of patients and families serviced by Care Dimensions.  The Associate Medical Director participates in the planning and implementation of new programs related to the medical care provided to patients. The Associate Medical Director supervises Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and administrative staff supporting the physicians group based out of the Greater Boston location.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical school with possession of a current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Board certified with a minimum of five years experience in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Oncology or related field with specialty certification in Hospice/Palliative medicine preferred or Hospice Medical Director Certification preferred.
  • Privileges or eligible for privileges as an attending physician with one or more Care Dimensions contracted acute care hospitals.
  • Successful completion of a palliative care fellowship program strongly preferred.
  • Eligibility and/or certification in Hospice and Palliative Care or Hospice Medical Director Certification; willingness to obtain certification within two years required.
  • Recognized for leadership ability within the medical community.
  • Demonstrated participation in educating and mentoring clinical staff with the ability to convey clinical information to non-clinicians.
  • Demonstrated competency in symptom control measures and appropriate palliative care for terminally ill patients.
  • Knowledge of the principles of quality improvement and ethical issues in end-of-life care.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and support of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care planning and delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals and groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements.
