The Jamaica Hospital Palliative Care Fellowship Program is an ACGME-accredited program designed to train physicians who are committed to improving comfort and quality of life for patients and families facing life-limiting illness.

The program places emphasis on providing culturally sensitive care to our diverse patient population taking into account cultural and spiritual views on health, illness and the end-of-life. It is hoped that Fellows who have completed the program will remain within the hospital’s vicinity and that they will continue to provide personalized, comprehensive and culturally sensitive palliative care to our community’s patients.

The primary site of training is the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Fellows work as active members of the Inpatient and Ambulatory Palliative Care team. Other required training takes place with MJHS and St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. Fellows are exposed to the full spectrum of chronic complex life-limiting illnesses and End-of-Life care in patients of all ages and in all clinical settings.

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is located in Queens County of New York City and serves an urban, culturally-diverse population.

Have successfully completed training in an ACGME-accredited residency program in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Radiation Oncology or Surgery

Be board-certified or board-eligible in one of the above mentioned specialty areas.

Currently have or are able to obtain a license to practice medicine in New York prior to the date the fellowship is scheduled to begin.
