Children’s is a vibrant, free-standing pediatric teaching hospital and Nebraska’s only full service pediatric specialty health care center focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical and outcomes, basic science and translational research, and advocacy. We have an ACGME approved pediatric palliative care fellowship program. The hospital has a Level IV Regional NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Specialized Clinical Pediatric Services, and 24/7 Pediatric Intensivists. We have 50+ Specialty Clinics, 200+ Specialists, 14 Satellite Offices, multiple Pediatric Fellowship programs, and is Magnet Certified.

The Hand in Hand Pediatric Palliative Care Team in Omaha, Nebraska welcomes applications for a full-time board-certified or board-eligible pediatric palliative care physician to join our creative, energetic, academic, interdisciplinary, solidarity-centered team. The Hand in Hand team has been in existence for ten years with evolution from a pilot, grassroots endeavor to now thriving as an academic division within the Department of Pediatrics. The team consists of two physicians, one nurse case manager, one social worker, one chaplain, and one child life specialist. Integrative services offered by our certified integrative care teammates include tai chi/gentle yoga, aromatherapy, massage therapy, and Healing Touch. We are a consult-based service with an inpatient, outpatient, and community presence. There are meaningful opportunities for integration in chronic complex pediatrics, fetal and NICU settings, intensive care integration, cardiology and CT surgery, oncology, and additional realms. The team focuses on quality of life, goals of care, symptom management and intervention, and provider-child-family communication with an emphasis on child voice. The Hand in Hand team is involved in foundational and implementation-based academic research; quality improvement projects; education of medical students, residents, fellows, and colleagues as part of a primary palliative care educational initiative; and campus-wide academic engagement. The team received the Circle of Life Citation of Honor in 2018.
