The CVICU is a 28 bed high acuity unit. We provide care to a varied group of cardiac and vascular critical care patients. Some of the experience and skills in the CVICU that we provide are recovering fresh open heart surgery patients, hypothermia, tPA, balloon pump, impella, SLED, aquapheresis, and caring for lumbar drains. We have recently implemented a palliative care and inpatient hospice program for our patient population. We perform over 600 open heart surgeries and over 1200 vascular surgeries each year. This lays the foundation in establishing Banner Health's Vision of Banner Heart Hospital to be the Cardiac Hub for the East Valley. We provide specialized hemodynamic monitoring and have many protocols to allow for timely and evidence based care.100% EMR; CPOE; and PPID for med administration, Staffing is 2:1 or 1:1 for higher acuity patients

The Registered Nurse Operations Support Specialist coordinates the educational and on-boarding needs of the CVICU at Banner Heart Hospital. If you have a passion for seeing new hires and new grads have a successful on-boarding experience and engagement with their new unit, you will find the position rewarding. You work collaboratively with the nursing leadership to roll out education on new products, procedures, clinical practice changes, and education on strategic and quality initiatives.

Located next to Banner Baywood Medical Center in east Mesa, Arizona, Banner Heart Hospital specializes in providing the most advanced cardiovascular care in an environment of clinical excellence, compassion and healing. With 111 beds, we are one of the largest freestanding heart hospitals in the nation. We have also been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitalsr for cardiovascular care by Thomson-Reuters. Our facilities include 28 cardiovascular intensive care beds, 67 telemetry beds, a 16-bed interventional stay unit, two endovascular suites, six OR suites, six cardiac cath labs, two electrophysiology labs and a non-invasive cardiology unit.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs standard assignments within own job functions. Expanding knowledge of fundamental theories, practices, procedures, and concepts within the job's function.

2. Identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using established procedures. Analyzes developments in the field for others.

3. Responds to non-standard requests from internal and/or external customers; investigates with assistance from others, as needed. Interacts primarily with department peers, supervisor, internal customers, patients and physicians.

4. Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
