Seeking General Surgeon

in gorgeous Asheville, North Carolina

The Charles George VA Medical Center (CGVAMC), Asheville, North Carolina is recruiting for a general surgeon to replace one of our three clinically active surgeons.  The General Surgery section provides adult surgical services to the Veteran population in Western North Carolina and surrounding regions, including South Carolina and Georgia.  The service is supported by a physician assistant and resident from Duke University.  The ideal candidate would be facile in all aspects general surgery including routine open and laparoscopic cases, diagnostic endoscopy, wound care, management of complex patient issues and nutritional support. Our new surgeon must be able to work collaboratively with other surgical and medical specialists.  Additional general surgical specialization, such as oncology, colorectal, advanced laparoscopy and endoscopy would be beneficial.

The CGVAMC is a 257 authorized bed, level 1c complexity facility which offers primary, secondary, and tertiary diagnostic and therapeutic health services in medicine, surgery, rehabilitation medicine, mental health, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care.  The CGVAMC has earned a 5-Star rating 6 consecutive quarters, top 10% of VA hospitals nationally, for 7 consecutive quarters.
