Midland Care Connection in Topeka, Kansas is looking for a full time medical director for their not-for-profit hospice program.  A longstanding and respected healthcare provider in NE Kansas, Midland Care is the original grassroots hospice in Topeka and built the State's first hospice inpatient unit in 2000, recently remodeling and updating it. We set the standard for hospice care and palliative care in the community, providing hospice for an average of 115 patients daily, and outpatient palliative care in our on-campus clinic and in a busy, hospital-based oncology center.  Interested candidates could expect hands-on patient care and supervisory time in both programs, with an emphasis on hospice.

Job responsibilities include direct patient care and oversight of hospice care provided by our teams in the community and hospice house, participation in hospice IDT, supervision of APRNs who also provide direct care and perform face-to-face visits, and administrative medical director duties.  Participation in Quality Initiatives and organizational planning/visioning is also important, as well as maintaining good relationships with our referring local healthcare partners. Primary night and weekend call is currently staffed by Midland APRNs, with physician backup.

The successful applicant will succeed our current medical director, here since 2007, nearing retirement.

MD and DO candidates should be BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or certified by the Hospice Medical Director examination.  Must be able to drive and have a good driving record.

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Salary negotiable based on experience. Benefits include offered health insurance, short term disability insurance, malpractice coverage, yearly allowance for CME, generous vacation allowance.
Internal Number: 1235711
