Novant Health Hospice & Palliative Care - Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced and collaborative Hospice Medical Director to oversee our growing and dynamic program. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exemplary and compassionate clinical skills, and embrace a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach to end-of-life care. Candidate must demonstrate clinical, administrative and educational leadership skills.
Job Summary:
Assures high quality, appropriate and efficient utilization of hospice services
Advancing the mission, operations, and services of the program
Collaboration with the Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) and will participate in the development of formulary, policies, and procedures
Team-based care approach, with an experienced and dedicated support staff within a culture of innovation
Oversee an average daily patient census of about 175, including an established 8 bed inpatient hospice unit located in Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
Collaborates with the IDG to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met and provides oversight of the plan of care
Certifies patient eligibility criteria for hospice care including admission, symptom calls and certification of terminal illness
Monday - Friday schedule with rotating on-call responsibilities
Qualifications:
Board certified/board eligible in hospice & palliative medicine
Experience in end of life care and/or training
Medical director or associate medical director experience preferred

Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine required; BC/BE Hospice & Palliative Medicine or equivalent experienc with Hospice Medical Director certification (eligible)
Experience: One to three years of experience working in an acute care setting required. Clinical experience in hospice, geriatrics, intensive care or palliative care preferred
