Radiology Faculty Job Posting

Division of Musculoskeletal Radiology

Department of Radiology

University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Job Summary:  The Department of Radiology is recruiting a musculoskeletal (MSK) fellowship-trained radiologist with high integrity and a strong commitment to teamwork to join our group at any academic level.

Our growing and diverse practice has the breadth, depth, and scale for faculty at any career stage and with general or specialized interests from clinician-educator to clinician-scientist. We emphasize mentorship and career and leadership development. Above all, our group values our commitment to our patients, colleagues, and the other members of our radiology team, providing exceptional care in an environment that is collegial, supportive, and respectful.

The Division of Musculoskeletal Radiology of the University of Michigan provides comprehensive state-of-the-art imaging and imaging-guided interventional procedures of the musculoskeletal system, including: MRI, MR arthrography, MSK US, CT, CT-guided RF ablation of osteoid osteoma, DECT, and radiographs. We are a regional sarcoma referral center and we perform daily CT- and US-guided biopsies of bones and soft tissues. Other procedures include: fluoroscopic and US guided joint and bursal injections and aspirations, US guided tendon sheath injection, calcific tendinitis lavage, tendon fenestration and platelet-rich plasma injection, and neuroma injection.

The case mix in our practice includes general and subspecialty orthopedics, musculoskeletal tumors, trauma and joint reconstruction, spine and peripheral nerve, primary care, rheumatology, and sports medicine with the latter related to our role in caring for the collegiate athletes at the University of Michigan and other elite athletes. We have a busy MSK US practice encompassing both diagnostics and interventions; therefore, some degree of MSK US experience is desired, but we will provide direct supervision and training as needed. In addition to 4 musculoskeletal fellows per year, we have 2 physician assistants, 2 patient care tech associates, and 2 reading room coordinators on our team, providing abundant clinical and logistical support for the MSK service.

The Musculoskeletal Radiology Division is active in research and teaching, within the Department of Radiology, Michigan Medicine, and at a national level. Our faculty speak at the major national and subspecialty meetings. There is ample opportunity for faculty to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and musculoskeletal fellows. There are also several interdisciplinary conferences, such as weekly sarcoma tumor board and Grand Rounds, and monthly rheumatology, sports medicine, family medicine, and multiple myeloma conferences.

In addition to the traditional academic pathway that provides time for research, there is an option of an all-clinical pathway that emphasizes clinical and educational endeavors with higher salary. We offer competitive compensation and generous benefits, with ample time for vacation, meetings, wellness, and professional development. Michigan Medicine provides a robust faculty development program. Michigan Medicine is embedded within the University of Michigan, which is consistently rated the number one public university in the country; opportunities for collaboration with other schools within the university, such as business and engineering, are limitless. Ann Arbor schools are excellent, housing is affordable, and the lifestyle is relaxed, with abundant restaurants, coffee shops, theaters, and musical venues. An extensive MetroPark system and the Huron River allow ample outdoor recreation. Ann Arbor is a 30-minute drive from the Detroit-Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, a major international hub.

Required Qualifications: M.D. or equivalent, ABR-certified or has passed the ABR Core Examination and on track to take the Certifying Examination within 15 months of completing residency, fellowship-trained in musculoskeletal imaging, and the ability to obtain a medical license in the State of Michigan. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in teaching is expected.

U-M EEO/AA Statement:  Michigan Medicine seeks to recruit and retain a diverse workforce as a reflection of our commitment to serve the diverse people of Michigan and to maintain the excellence of the University.  We welcome applications from anyone who would bring additional dimensions to the University’s research, teaching, and clinical mission, including women, members of minority groups, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities.  The University of Michigan as a whole, is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all persons and will not discriminate against any individual because of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status.  The University of Michigan is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.

How to apply: Qualified applicants should send their CV and a letter of interest to:
