The Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) is one of 53 National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States. The KCI is affiliated with the Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSU).  The Institute members conduct basic, translational, and clinical research with a very active Clinical Trials Office overseeing multiple Phase 1,2 and 3 trials.  The clinical arm, the Karmanos Cancer Center (KCC) operates several clinics in Detroit and in outreach areas, as well as a hospital located at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). KCC is a primary training site for the WSU/DMC Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program. KCC Supportive Care/Palliative Care faculty also host resident and medical student trainees on elective rotations throughout the year. Our team also hosts Social Work students. The current KCC Supportive care team includes 4 HPM board certified physicians, an NP, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a social worker, and a chaplain, as well as dedicated clinic RNs.  Each physician team member has an out-patient panel, and all participate in in-patient rounding on the consult service. We have a very good cross coverage system to allow flexibility in clinical schedules and personal time. On the out-patient side, we are integrated in the oncology/surgical clinics. Team members chair the Hospital Ethics Committee, the Hospital Quality improvement Committee and participate in the Clinical Leadership Committee and the Medical Executive Committee. Our team is well respected in the Cancer Center, and we are integral members of the medical staff along with our oncology colleagues. We enjoy strong support from hospital administration. Our team is close-knit, energetic, and we work diligently to provide support for one another and have flexibility in work scheduling to provide a sustainable work/family- time balance.  We are seeking a board eligible/certified colleague to work full-time with our team. All physician team members hold Wayne State University faculty appointments.
