Join our unique, non-traditional team of experienced CCLSs, exclusively supporting well-children of seriously/terminally ill adult patients, in adult hospitals with world-renowned Baylor Scott & White Health.

Sign on bonus of $3000.00

$47K-$70K

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

Serving on hospital-based adult Supportive & Palliative Care team

Assessing psychosocial needs of children and families

Providing developmentally-appropriate explanations to children & involved adults including: diagnosis teaching, anticipatory grief, death and grief after loss

Implementing bibliotherapy & facilitating therapeutic interventions

Initiating legacy activities; & advocating for children’s involvement at EOL

Educating involved adults about their children’s: healthy coping, common concerns, typical behavioral changes; & providing resources for community & professional support.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Strong communication and active listening skills, emotionally intelligent and self-aware

Effective time-management and prioritization skills for all child life tasks and responsibilities, often while working independently and/or with minimal supervision

Cultural competency including spiritual, ethnicity, language, educational, and socio-economic differences

Strong advocate for the psychosocial well-being of children

Manages intense emotional stress of working with children and families experiencing serious illness or injury, end-of-life, death & bereavement

QUALIFICATIONS

• EDUCATION - Bachelor's or Master’s
• EXPERIENCE - 3 Years, paid experience as a child life specialist   
• CERTIFICATION- Current Certification in child life (CCLS)
