Palliative Medicine Advanced Practice Provider

Rush University Medical Center

Rush University Medical Center and the Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Palliative Medicine is currently recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team. This is an 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday position that will function as part of an outpatient and inpatient teams supporting both palliative medicine and chronic pain patients. The Section of Palliative Medicine currently has 4 APP team members and conduct consultations for pain and symptom management in patients with chronic medical illnesses and participate in provision of medical information to patients with life limiting illness including illness understanding, and goals of care planning as well as coping with serious illness. We teach many undergraduate and post graduate APP students and APPs, medical students, residents and fellows and have a dedicated palliative medicine fellowship. The successful applicant would participate in educational activities and quality improvement initiatives.


*Applicants with previous Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.


The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
